STAGES OF DISCIPLINARY PROCESS
In most cases, the following procedure will be utilized for correcting infractions of staff policies. However, please be aware that upon the discretion of the Director of the Miron Student Center (or designee) and depending on the nature and severity of the misconduct, the course of the disciplinary action may move more directly to a later step in the process, up to and including termination. Please review the write-up form for details on the point system.
Verbal Warning:
A verbal warning is given for minor first offenses and remains in effect for the remainder of the academic year.
Written Warning:
A written warning addresses a subsequent offense by the employee. Written warnings are kept in the employee file for the academic year, and points are deducted.
Suspension or Probation:
A suspension or probation indicates the seriousness of the infraction and is intended to alert the employee that the next step is termination. The employee is notified in writing of the suspension or probation as soon as possible after the incident. The length of the suspension or probation is based on the seriousness of the misconduct.
Termination:
Termination of employment is the final step in the discipline process or the penalty for serious offenses or misconduct. If you have 0 points, that is grounds for termination.
