Job Function: The Miron Student Center Operations Manager is a paraprofessional staff member whose main purpose is to assist the Operations Managers Management Team in the daily operations of the Miron Student Center. The primary function of the Operations Manager is to provide high-quality customer service while providing safety and security to all Miron Student Center patrons.
Expectations of Operations Managers:
Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Must be able to attend bi-weekly departmental meetings as well as monthly All-Staff meetings.
Must maintain a minimum of 12 credits per semester
Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Responsibilities:
Provide support and coordination for events in the Miron Student Center
Responsible for the setup and breakdown of MSC Conference Rooms
Check room condition and setup prior to events, ensuring the proper equipment is provided and the appearance of the space is professional and to the liking of the host
Greet and establish rapport with the individual(s) or groups using the facility and respond to their needs in a prompt and courteous manner
Explain, interpret and enforce general Miron Student Center policies and procedures
Monitor the use of the MSC by individuals and groups
Assist professional staff in developing a positive understanding of policy and procedures and aid in the enforcement of policies when needed
Relay information concerning policy disputes to the appropriate supervisor or manager
Maintain effective operation of the Miron Student Center and its departments
Complete scheduled rounds of the Miron Student Center to ensure that all areas are functioning effectively
Monitor and report on the Miron Student Center HVAC, lighting, cleanliness, furnishing, event setups and public spaces
Observe, confront and report unusual occurrences and incidents (i.e. vandalism, theft, illness, etc)
Provide support to the Miron Student Center staff in the absence of the direct supervisors
Provide for the safety and security of the Miron Student Center and its patrons
Know and understand emergency procedures for the Miron Student Center
Provide leadership in emergency situations for staff and patrons
Act as a resource for emergency personnel, assisting in evacuating the facility, maintaining order and performing other duties as required
Secure rooms, equipment, and facilities at the appropriate time.
Interact with patrons to establish authorized and legal use of the facility. Request authorized patrons and groups to vacate the facility and utilize Campus Police if needed
Secure the Miron Student Center and associated facilities at the end of each day as established per procedure.
