Staff Job Descriptions: Information Specialist
Supervisor: Generra Smith, Professional Services Specialist
Job Function: The Miron Student Center Information Desk Specialists are a unit of student Para professionals whose primary function is to provide information to the Miron Student Center patrons. This entails giving directions, answering phone calls, handing out pamphlets, referring people to other departments and assisting to the best of ones ability.
Expectations of Information Desk Attendant:
Must be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Must be able to attend bi-weekly departmental meetings as well as monthly All-Staff meetings.
Must maintain a minimum of 12 credits per semester
Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality customer service to all individuals who visit the Miron Student Center
Serves as the Informational point person for any MSC patrons
Organize and maintain all publications on display at the Information Desk
Serves as the point person for all Miron Student Center staff members who need to call in late or to call out of their shifts.
Record all Call Out or Late Calls
Contact the staff member’s department to inform of the staff member’s absence or lateness
Email staff member’s management team concerning the call
Serves as point of contact for the MSC Lost and Found
Receives any items that qualify for Lost and Found and records information
Records any patron that reports an item lost
Submits any found items of value to Kean University Police Department
Maintains the Change of Shift/Coverage of Shift forms and book
Serves as a resource for MSC departments concerning facility work orders
Contacts Facilities concerning any work orders
Reports work orders via the online system
