The Hub Manual
OPENING SHIFT:
Opening shift arrives to work fifteen minutes before your shift to ensure the Hub is set up before opening.
After clocking in, ask Operations to open the Hub for you.
Turn on the lights.
Open any desks with screens and turn on any monitors or computers, if available.
Open the sliding doors to the small hub room.
Ensure all printers are filled with paper and boxes of paper are available. If not, contact professional staff.
Go through the Hub and Media Center to review and report the status: the desks, doors, furniture, kiosk, printer, and computer in the media center.
Go to the storage room and take inventory of the paper. If you have less than four boxes of each, inform the manager. Also, take any empty boxes in the storage room to the trash can right beside the Information Desk, behind the Atrium stairway) for disposal.

Prepare the tablet to check in patrons.
Clean tables around the Hub and ensure all seats and items are properly positioned.
When it is time to open the Hub, prop open the door, if needed.
MANDATORY SHIFT WORK:
Swipe Machine or Scan Tablet: Every person entering the Miron Student Center Hub must have a valid Kean ID.
Take the ID card and swipe/scan it; if it swipes Active, return the ID card to the owner and allow them use of the Hub. On the other hand, if the card swipes Denied and Denied by Rule, the person is not permitted to use the Hub, if they are registered for classes, they must go to the Student Accounting Office, located on the second floor of the Administration Building.
Sign-in totals: At the end of every hour, count the number of people that signed in for that hour and put that number into the MSC Hub Round Sheet

Computer Services Logbook: Please record any kiosk or media center equipment service in the round sheet.
Complete any new procedures added to the Hub attendant's role/job description or as assigned by the Prof. Staff supervision.
HUB PROCEDURES:
An employee must be seated at the front desk at all times. If you are working with someone else, you cannot leave the front desk for any reason unless you want to switch places with your coworker.
An employee can sit at the front desk for a maximum of two hours and then switch positions with a coworker.
All employees should make themselves available for questions.
If you cannot answer a question, ask a coworker, Hub Manager, Graduate Assistant, or Coordinator.
No employee should complete a Hub user’s schoolwork. Failure to obey this rule will result in disciplinary action and possible termination.
If a computer has problems, recommend another computer/laptop.
If a computer is broken, place an “Out of Order” sticker above or below the kiosk slot. Document the problem in the MSC Hub Round Sheet.
Employees should go around the Hub every thirty minutes straightening chairs, putting paper in the printers.
When leaving your shift, inform the people on the next shift about any problems in the Hub.
Additional responsibilities will be added regarding working with student representatives.
CLOSING SHIFT:
Clean around the work area and tables.
Fifteen minutes before the Hub is scheduled to close, announce to the Hub users so they can round up their activities.
Straighten up the Hub- desks, chairs, screens, monitors. Also, follow the lost and found procedure regarding items left behind. If necessary, give the items to the Information Desk and complete any required paperwork.

Load printers with paper and dispose of any papers left around the printers.
Check the kiosk – ensure all laptops are returned.
Unplug all fans or heaters.
Contact Operations to lock and secure the Hub.
Close the sliding doors and turn off the lights.
Clock out.
