Operations Safety Instructions

The following list identifies pertinent areas and procedures for which Operations Staff members must be attentive to in preventing a fire:

  • Storage (tables, chairs, etc.)

  • Should be neat and orderly

  • Should be stored twenty-four inches (2Ft.) below the ceiling

    • Garbage cans and Pallets must not be up against the walls or doors

    • Garbage must be disposed of properly and should not be stacked in the hallways

    • Only auxiliary heaters provided by facilities are to be used

    • Space heaters and fans must be three feet away from surrounding surface, and should be kept away from combustible units and must be unplugged at night

    • Nothing is to be placed on heaters at any time

    • There should be a thirty inch clearance around electric panels

    • There should be one surge protector per outlet and it must have a UL or FM and reset button

    • Surge protectors must not be connected to each other

    • Multi-plug adaptors are prohibited

    • Extension cords are not for permanent use by vendors

    • Any open wiring or electrical boxes without covers should be reported immediately

    • Fire extinguishers must not be blocked

    • Hallways and Exit sign areas should be clear

    • Any unlit Exit sign must be reported immediately to the Management Team.
