Manager

The Coordinator of Kean P.U.L.S.E Programming is responsible for making sure Kean University students are given social, cultural, and educational opportunities beyond the classroom experience. The Committee Coordinator utilizes assessment practices to effectively program for the student population. The Committee Coordinator secures diverse representation on Programming Board and manages the effective implementation of all Student Organization programs.

Coordinator's Role and Responsibilities:

  • The position works maximum 20 hours a week, which may vary due to events.

  • Prior to requisition deadlines, surveys a wide array of students on what programs they would like to see on campus during the current fiscal year.

  • Ensures the Committee’s programs are in accordance with student responses on surveys and designated committee description.

  • Holds both brainstorming and working meetings regularly prior to requisition deadlines to discuss and finalize details for all Fall, Spring, and Summer programs.

  • Fills out all necessary paperwork associated with programs and/or distributes tasks among the Programming Board committee to ensure passed programs are pursued.

  • Sets up various committees associated with programming to ensure programs are successful (assessment, promotions, photography, decorations, food service, etc).

  • Oversees the committee work for each program.

  • Assigns assistant coordinator to take minutes for each meeting and distributes minutes to Managing Assistant Director

  • Ascertains University-wide representation on programming committee through eliciting students from different majors, extracurricular activities, and hobbies

  • Removes and replaces committee members who are not meeting their responsibilities

  • Every semester evaluates the committee’s effectiveness with committee members every semester evaluates the Assistant coordinator and committee members.

  • Demonstrates innovation and utilization of a variety of resources in creating and managing programs.

  • Ensures programs are servicing a wide variety of student’s interests and needs.

  • Ensures all students (i.e. commuter, resident, and night) have ample opportunities to take advantage of programs.

  • Works closely with Managing Assistant Director on creation, management, promotions, and assessment of programs.

  • serves on several University committees appoints another committee member to attend.

  • Ensures Cougar Link, EMS, and Kean Google Calendar is up to date with relevant information and Contact vendors

  • Works with Assistant Coordinator for 50% of office hours


Team Duties:

  • Conducts and Promotes professionalism in language and behavior, on and off-campus, at all times Works closely with Director or Managing Assistant Director

  • Reports to Programming Board and university committees on current program/projects and issues they are working on

  • Attends and participates and other meetings as deemed necessary

  • Regularly participates in the planning, preparation, and execution of events and programs.

  • Attends mandatory training.

  • Reviews agendas and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings

  • Reports office hours to the Office of S at the beginning of each semester.

  • Maintains and posts regular office hours.

  • Maintains up to date timesheets for office hours.

  • Carries out all other duties as assigned by Director or Managing Assistant Director

  • Understands and communicates the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs and upholds a personal commitment to its goals and objectives

  • Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time

  • Serves on committees as needed

  • Gets to know other committees and members to build respectful working relationships that contribute to the success of the organization

  • Shows attention to detail -- checking accuracy and the quality of work

  • Abides by Kean University policies and procedures including but not limited to student code of conduct

  • Engages student body in order to recruit new committee members and volunteers

  • Promote the organization and its events at all times

  • Assists Miron Student Center staff as needed

  • Ensures that personal relationships do not interfere with daily business

  • Submits accomplished work to Director or Managing Assistant Director

Assistant Coordinator

The Committee Assistant Coordinator secures diverse representation on Programming Board and manages the effective implementation of all Student Organization programs.

Committee Member

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all initiatives and goals are being met by the committee

  • Responsible for overseeing the direction of individual programming areas.

  • Composes agenda for committee meetings

  • Establish relationships with various programming resources on campus

  • Supports Committee through regular attendance at meetings and programs.

  • Coordinates with Assessment team all assessment of Programs

  • Must be available to attend regular committee meetings which are determined by the committee.


General Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with the team members and supervisors

  • Attend training, retreats, and leadership programs as assigned

  • Operate with a clear understanding of University policies and procedures

  • Maintain organized files and continue to develop an operations manual for the position, including all vendors, sponsors, and presenters.

  • Advertise and market for committee events.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
