Radio Etiquette
Radios are a primary form of communication between departments and within departments on some occasions. There are various rules and procedures to consider and keep in mind while using and when done using them.
Radio Conversation
When conversating with someone over the radio, we want to keep it short, sweet, and to the point. Here is a layout of how the conversation will go:
"_____, Come back" (Blank is either a person or department)
"This is _____, go ahead" (Blank answers here)
"[VERY brief question or request]" (Very is never more than on sentence, just ask the question, don't explain)
"[Short response to question]" OR "received"
(if you got an answer to the question) "received"
So a full radio conversation would go like:
A: "Ops, come back"
B: "This is Ops, go ahead"
A: "Can you close gameroom"
B: "Received"
As you can see, the conversation was short and too the point, done within a few seconds to a minute.
Radio Charging
Our radio batteries will not last forever, and properly charging them are a way to get the most out of them.
Charging Dock
Turn off the radio BEFORE plugging it into the charger
At the end of your shift, please turn off the radio, place the radio into the charger and you should see a red light appear - see directions below
If no light appears, the charger may not be plugged in.
